Lasso is a medical probe designed around a new technology with the ability to measure shock by capturing data from a site on the hand, continuously and noninvasively. The probe design features an in-molded wire that facilitates an accurate reading on a wide range of people by virtue of its ability to morph to the contours of each individual’s hand despite differences in shape and size.
Aria: Italian for “air,” is a system of small-scale prosthetic limb fabrication that respects the amputee’s desire for stability, comfort, and a sense of symmetry. By taking 3D digital scans of one’s own body geometry, Aria is able to exploit advancements in materials science and rapid prototyping technology to create an inflatable breathing socket sleeve that indexes into custom-fit limb.
Special thanks to Scott Summit for inspiration and advice on this project.
With the proliferation of smart devices in our culture, our reliance on analog technology is waning. This watch design calls for a return to the age of trial and error —of educated guesses. It was once commonplace to ask the time and welcome the humble offering: “Oh, it’s about five-thirty.”
This project took place during an internship at Anvil Studios Inc.
